URL Shinker++ May 16, 2008

I’ve been a big fan, and user, of TinyURL for years.  In case you haven’t come across this or similar sites yet the concept is simple.  These days URLs can be huge, the one I’m using to type this is 184 characters long!  These are a pain, especially when emailing them as they can often be wrapped and lose half the URL when the person clicks.  TinyURL takes a URL and creates one that takes the form http://www.tinyurl.com/xxxx.  A much more manageable situation.

There is an issue though.  This is one URL at a time.  Now for most situations this may be OK but there are times when I need to send a whole bunch of URLs to someone.  To date I have simply TinyURL’d them and sent the group off.  Now though someone has come up with an alternative.  LinkBunch
takes the concept that stage further, instead of one URL you can enter a whole bunch (did you see what they did there?) and what is created is a simple small URL.  When clicked this takes you to a page on the LinkBunch site that allows you to click one at a time or open all together.

An example is http://linkbun.ch/cma which is a link to some of my sites.

Crayon Physics March 24, 2008

At the recent GDC in San Francisco there was a demo of the follow up for the highly entertaining and cool Crayon Physics game. This has always been a cool concept but then freeware original only lets you draw blocks. The work on the upcoming game looks pretty awesome with a whole load of shapes and the inclusion of pivot points makes it a whole new experience. One I’m looking forward to.
