Interesting Video Projects

I was catching up on some TED talks* when I came across this one from Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a French photographer/filmaker and environmentalist, which included references to a couple of projects that he has worked on recently.

The 6 Billion Others project is a fascinating view of the peoples of the world.  A group of directors were dispatched to all corners of the world to film people.  They each had the same list of questions and those questions were asked of a wide range of individuals and their responses filmed in tight close up.  To quote from the site; “The questions chosen for these interviews are the ones which cut across all humanity, everywhere and always: they concern the family, experiences, tests, what makes us laugh, cry, what gives life meaning and the like.”.  The responses show both how we are all individual and yet all the same.  He also references a feature length film that he has released, for free, looking at the state of the Earth and how we can take positive steps to change it.  I’m looking forward to watching it.

* For anyone who hasn’t come across them, the TED Talks are a free resource from the Technology, Entertainment, Design conferences and ongoing projects.  The concept is simple, bring together the worlds great thinkers and get them to speak on something that they feel passionate about for 18 minutes.  Highly recommended viewing – especially if you choose something that is outside your normal range of interests.
